I don't know this Maya character, but she's right on with observation #2. This is coming from someone who was in the Peace Corps.

1. I will now share with you my favorite quote about annoyingly beautiful young people:
"The only thing [people in their twenties] are good for is looking better than people in their thirties and forties. So, if you're in twenties, strike a pose and shut the f*** up!" - Jim David

2. Creating peace in the world is just as much about living life joyfully as it is doing something big and dramatic. You're doing your part in your own way - you are refusing to be oppressed by a system that desperately wants you to want a boring desk job - don't diminish the power of that resistance just because it isn't potentially fatal.

3. See, I TOLD you it's hot in Nashville in the summer!

4. Onions are satan's fruit. There is nothing at all wrong with being a special-dish-diva when onions are involved. I have gleefully asserted a severe onion allergy to be sure they didn't just pick them out, leaving their foul juices behind. When it turned out there were no onionless vegetarian dishes at Bahama Breeze, I guilted the chef into making me something special. I am unrepentant. Onions are nasty. We are SO related.

5. Making up your own words is a writer's prerogative.

Thanks for bravely posting your tidbits. It's a good idea, really. What a year, huh? I hope 2007 did not let the door hit its ass on the way out, and that 2008 will learn from its petty but malignant mistakes.
